About the Farmer:
Gobin Pegu, age 52 – A marginal farmer hails from the largest river island Majuli. He runs a family of 5 people with a wife and 3 daughters. The youngest daughter goes to school while the older two help their father in the farm during season and also helps their mother in the household chores. Mr Pegu has a small paddy firm produces Red Rice and also grows some vegetables too for his own consumption. During recent flood days Mr Pegu and his family had to shift to a nearby primary school as their house compound was under water. Inspite of the catastrophic turmoil caused by floods Mr Pegu is still self sustained this year. A share of his sustainability credit goes to you customers as well.

AmbyGOLD procured the entire lot of his last year production in the month of December 2021. Next step is semi polishing. The paddy comes to our partnered mill located at Dhupguri, Khetri, Kamrup Assam. After the de-husking, the semi polished rice lot reaches our facility at Guwahati, Assam. Where cleaning, sorting happens manually by two of our lady workers Meena Begum & Damayanti Das. These two ladies are with AmbyGOLD since the inception. Next step is Packinging – Please note that we do NOT put any chemical at any point of production , processing and packaging.
Once the rice is packed we manually do a final quality control check and make the end product ready for shipping.

Red rice which has been grown from the farming families of the Brahmaputra flood plains majorly from the state of Assam under the submergence conditions where river brings the rich alluvial soil and wave off the need to use fertilizers.
Red rice can be any of multiple varieties of rice that are high in anthocyanin, an antioxidant pigment that dyes the bran of the rice grain a reddish color.
